Imcivree/Setmelanotide has been approved in the US for children 2 years and older. Many families continue to struggle with having Imcivree approved by insurance companies and/or Medicaid. Imcivree has also received approval in the UK and many European countries.
We have explored the possibility of trials of GLP-1r agonists (e.g. Ozempic, Zepbound) specifically for people with BBS but have not been able to get interest from pharmaceutical companies. There are a few individuals in the US and elsewhere using GLP-1r agonists with some reporting positive outcomes.
